Mario's Jungle Journey is still a new game, so I have created a new series: Mario's Jungle Journey, to showcase the themes what Jungle Edition has to offer! In this series, you need to go through all sorts of jungle environments to get to and defeat Bowser, while defeating Boom Boom in the progress! The series includes a lot of the themes that Jungle Edition has, so if you're looking for level idea's, be sure to check out the series!

Mario's Jungle Journey is an Level Palace exclusive. You can find & play the levels of the series in my level list!
You can also find a full walkthrough of the series on my YouTube channel here.

Super Mario Flash 2: Retro Edition Will be Version C

6/6/2016

The first news post of June, and some good news too! I just started development on the new SMF2: Retro Edition, and it will now use the Version C engine. This means, that Retro Edition will have Background/Music changers, more tiles & sprites, easier and quicker to use level editor and custom music. Now, since making a Ver. C SMF2 game takes a long time, the release date will have to be delayed. I am not sure when it'll be finished, but once I can be more sure of a release date, I will let you know on this News page!

Keep an eye for more Retro Edition and all things SMF here and on the forums. You can discuss the new upcoming version on the official game page.

Super Mario Flash 2: Jungle Edition UPDATE is HERE!

5/31/2016

And finally, it's here! The SMF2: Jungle Edition Version C update has arrived, adding a huge amount of new tiles... Really, there are twice as much tiles now! Not only new tiles tho, there are also a few new sprites like the Poison Mushroom & a new Piranha Plant. Level making is now also easier: you can now place Power-ups (Mushrooms, Fire Flower, etc), Monty Mole holes, Yoshi and even Bowser into the level, without having to code-edit! One of the really awesome new features, there are now background/music changers, that allow you to have the background/music to be changed when playing the level. You can find background & music changers in the Autoscroll & Sprite Generator menu in the sprites section. Talking about music... You can now also use custom music! Importing custom music may be a bit complicated at the beginning, but I will release a guide on how to do it that soon.

All levels made in the outdated version of SMF2: Jungle Edition are compatible with the new version.*

With the new tiles, these are all the tilesets in Jungle Edition:
  • Standard (stone block, spike, blocks, etc)
  • Jungle/Forest
  • Beach
  • Beehive
  • Mud/Swamp
  • Cave/Underground
  • Cobble
  • Snow/Ice
  • Nighttime Jungle
  • Ruins
  • Dungeon
  • Temple (Inside+Outside)
  • Volcano
  • Tree (Trunks & Leaves)
  • Underwater/Ocean
  • Atlantic
  • Pipes
  • Water/Poison/Lava
  • Platform Tiles (Mushroom, Wood, etc)
  • Misc Tiles (Leaf, Munchers, Fire, etc)

Enough reading, check out the new update here!

*NOTE: scenery may have to be replaced, depending on what scenery and the way you used it. Tiles, backgrounds, music & enemies are 100% compatible.

SMF2: Jungle Edition is updating to SMF2 Version C!

Good news everyone, Super Mario Flash 2: Jungle Edition is updating to SMF2 Version C! If you don't know what Version C has to offer, it offers a lot of new tiles (really a lot) and also some new enemies & sprites. But not only that, it also has Background and Music changers, that allow you to change the background/music within the level! It also makes making levels easier: you can put items like the Mushroom & Fire Flower directly anywhere you want without them being in a Mystery or Brick Block. Bowser can now also be put in the level quickly without having to code-edit, and you can now place upside-down Bullet Bill Cannons without them looking cut-off. You can also make the music silent if you want! And best of all... You will be able to use custom music!

All levels made in the old Jungle Edition will be compatible in the new version, so if you want to update your old level in the new version, you can do that easily. Custom Backgrounds will also work like they did before.

The new Super Mario Flash 2: Jungle Edition update will be out next week, somewhere around Friday! Stay tuned for more info. Special thanks to Chairo for making this possible as well!

New SMF2: Retro Edition launching this summer!

5/21/2016

Some of you who played the old Super Mario Flash 2: Retro Edition knows that it had a lot of errors, and it was never finished. So I have decided that I will completely redo SMF2: Retro Edition, listening to all the advice you all have given in the comment section of the game, and hopefully implement as much requested features as I can into the game! The old version only had tiles from mostly Mario games and just a few tiles from others, but the new version will focus to include tiles from some of the most known and best NES games, ranging from Mario, Kirby, Megaman and more. But also tiles from some games you might not have expected!

Custom Backgrounds will also be supported. Note that most Custom Backgrounds made by the SMF community are 16-bit themed, and Retro Edition is 8-bit themed, so most of them won't really work well. You can however make your own 8-bit looking backgrounds, and upload them to use them in your game! I am also planning on releasing an imgur album to upload more 8-bit Custom Backgrounds for Retro Edition when it's finished, and may add some more Custom Backgrounds every once in a while to the album. Of course, there will also be 9 in-game default backgrounds that are 8-bit themed that you could use. More info about how to import your own Custom Backgrounds into the game can be found on the help page.

NOTES:
-When the new version releases and if you have made a level in the old version, you can play it anytime by scrolling down on the page and select "Play old version".
-Levels made in the old version will not be compatible with the new version. The codes will work, but because most of the tilesets will change, the level will look weird.

(New) Super Mario Flash 2: Retro Edition will be launching this summer, at the end of August. Stay tuned for more info, I will post news here and there as I am developing the game on this page and on the forums!

Problems with Custom Backgrounds

5/10/2016

Some of you may have noticed that my Custom Backgrounds designed for my SMF2 games don't work on some browsers anymore. Don't worry, the problem is not on your end! The host of these backgrounds, Photobucket, has changed the way pictures hosted from their website are displayed on other sites, which caused the SMF2 Custom Background feature not being able to load Photobucket images. Don't worry, you can still use pictures from (supported) other sites, for example imgur. I am going to work on moving all of my backgrounds to another host, and they should be available again shortly! (You will have to update your background in the level code). I will keep you all updated on this news page about the Custom Background issues. In the meantime, you can use another browser, like Chrome.

Standard backgrounds from the games themselves are unaffected by this issue.

Super Mario Flash 2: Jungle Edition was one of my SMF2 editions, themed about the Jungle. It was fully finished last year, but it never got released due to PG's inactivity. However, now the community is active again, I decided to release it to the public so people can check it out! History lesson over, here's what Jungle Edition's all about:

-Create levels in the in-build 9 enviroments:
  • Jungle/Forest (Day)
  • Crystal Cave
  • Poisonous Forest
  • Temple
  • Jungle Beach
  • Ocean
  • Dungeon
  • Volcano
  • Jungle/Forest (Night)

-More enviroments can be added through the Custom Background feature.

There are also lots of tilesets to work with, including: Jungle, Beach, Snow, Beehive, Temple/Dungeon tilesets, Tree, Pipes, Atlantic & Volcano tilesets, including the tilesets that fit with multiple themes, such as Water/Poison, Harbor, Stone tiles and of course, blocks. Enough reading, check the game out here!
