What is Super Mario Flash?
The Super Mario Flash (SMF) games allow you to make your own 2D Mario levels using the most easy Mario level editor probably in existance. On this site you can play my SMF1/SMF2 editions and make levels in them!
You can also save your levels, so you can play them again later. Or you can also upload them online, so people from all around the world can play your level, and rate them. What about you have a go in making your first level in New Super Mario Flash 2? It's a great game to start!
For more info about how to save your levels and upload them, check out Where can I upload my levels? and How do I save my levels?. SMF updates, more help and announcements can also be found on the news page and the forums.

The games aren't loading
There are many reasons why a game won't load. Try one of these steps:
1. Make sure you have Adobe Flash Player installed and that you are using the latest version. Check if your Flash Player is to up-to-date by clicking here.
2. Try out a different browser, I recommend Firefox or Google Chrome.
3. Try clearing your cache/cookies.
4. Check if any of your programs/extensions is not blocking this website, for example your firewall.
5. Look for a hammer, and smash your PC as hard as you can with it. Just kidding don't try this one!

Custom Backgrounds don't work
If have you used one of my backgrounds, you have to update the BG URL in the level code. Click here for more info.
Custom Backgrounds are currently supported in New Super Mario Flash 2, SMF2: Crash Bandicoot Edition, and SMF2: Jungle Edition. Custom Backgrounds will be available on Retro Edition on launch day. SMF1: Pyrogenic Edition does not support Custom Backgrounds, as it is a SMF1 title.
There are a few reasons why a custom background won't work. You can check:
-Make sure you have a (stable) internet connection when you are loading the background.
-Copy the image URL and open it in a browser to see if it's still available. If it's not, try looking if there's a similar background somewhere else.
-Make sure the image extension is either one of these: .png, .jpg or.gif. Convert images
-The image has to be 320x240 pixels or less to work.
-Restart the game by refreshing the webpage. If you are working on a level, be sure to copy/save your level code first!

How do I save my levels?
These games read and load your levels using level codes. You can save these level codes and use them to load your level again, allowing you to continue working on your level, or play levels you've finished before!
1. To save a level code, go back to the Level Editor menu with the SAVE button, and then click on CODE.
2. Press the COPY button, or use CTRL+A and then CTRL+C.
3. Open a text editing program of your liking (with a save feature), like Word or Notepad.
4. Paste the level code in the document (Shortcut: CTRL+V).
5. Save the document, and there you go!
To load a level you have made before, you need to use the same level code. How to do this:
1. Find the document with the level code of the level you want to load/play.
2. Copy the code (Shortcut: CTRL+A, then CTRL+C).
3. Open up the game and press the LOAD button.
4. Paste the level code on the white area.
5. Press LOAD, and now you can play/work on your level! Want to play levels made by other users? Check out Level Palace, where you can upload your levels and play other users' levels, also using level codes!

Games are lagging/freeze completely
There are many factors that can lead the game to lag/freeze, one of these may help:
1. Make sure you are using the latest Flash Player. Download the latest version here.
2. There are too many enemies/sprites loaded at once, you should keep the enemy/sprite amount per screen low.
3. Try closing other games that also use Flash Player, or close any other programs with a high CPU usage.
4. Restart your browser/PC when it has been on for some time.
Note: levels that are using Custom Backgrounds may experience a lag spike when the background loads. Using a stable internet connection decreases this lag spike.More info on custom backgrounds

Custom Music isn't working
Before you read, note that only Super Mario Flash 2: Jungle Edition currently supports custom music. SMF2: Retro Edition will also support custom music on launch day.
Make sure that: 1. You are using a (stable) internet connection when loading the level. Custom music stays in memory for about 20 minutes.
2. Make sure the custom music is not longer than 4 minutes. Long music will cause massive loading problems.
3. Make sure you are using one the mp3 extension [convert]
4. Restart your game and/or internet.
Note: levels that are using Custom Music may experience some lag issues with laggy connections. More questions can be asked on the forums.
